Shed: Inventory Transfers

Moving products between storages in Shed just got a lot simpler.

We've just added a new record type called Transfers. With Transfers, you can keep track of all inventory movements between Storages in your Shed account.

This is particularly helpful for some of the larger operators who are regularly moving products across storage facilities to meet inventory requirements at each farming location.

Moving products between Storages in Shed has been possible for a while now, but it required a decrease and increase Adjustment record at the source and destination storages respectively. This solution was slow, cumbersome and prone to errors when double entering data. To level up this experience, we designed Transfers with speed and simplicity in mind:

  • A single record which handles decreases at the source storage and increases at the destination storage.
  • Multiple products, pack-sizes and batches on a single transfer, allowing for one transfer for each physical delivery.
  • Responsive user interface, allowing your team to fulfil transfers on any web or mobile device. PDF downloads for farm managers who would prefer to print a pick list for their crew.
  • The current moving average unit cost at the source storage is pre populated when specifying the unit cost on the transfer.
  • Inventory compliance data, including Batch Numbers, Date of Manufacturer (DOM) and Expiration Date can be recorded per product and will be added to the Batch records at the destination.

To manage Transfers, select a Storage from the Storage picker, then click on the Transfers link in the main navigation. From here, you can see transfers in and out of the selected storage by clicking on the “In” and “Out” tabs at the top of the Transfers page.

To create a new Transfer, select the source Storage from the Storage picker. Then, from the Transfers page, click the “New Transfer Out” button.
