SHED is now integrated with John Deere Operations Center!

Shed & Agworld: Simplified Storage Rules

Today, we're introducing some big improvements to the way Shed integrates with Agworld. If you're already using Shed, you'll be familiar with how Agworld activities are tagged with Storage Tags in order to sync them with relevant storage in Shed.

For a long time, we've known we could do better and that for most of you, things could be a lot simpler.

That's why we're happy to share a major upgrade to our Storage Rules.

Introducing Farm Defaults

For each farm in your Agworld account, you can now set default storages. Individual storages can be set for chemical, fertiliser, seed and fuel. Once a storage rule is set, activities that match the rule will be automatically assigned to the relevant storage - no tagging required!

We’ve designed Farm Defaults to handle the most common ways that farms are managing their inventory in Shed. Here are some examples:

Unified Storage

Storages by product category

Allocate chemical, seed, fertiliser and fuel usage from Agworld to the relevant storage in Shed. For example, all seed usage from planting activities can be automatically allocated to your designated seed storage.

Storages by farm location

Manage inventory across multiple farms with ease. Assign all products used on a specific farm to its corresponding storage location in Shed. For instance, all products applied on your "South Farm" can be automatically assigned to the "South Farm Storage" in Shed.

Storages by farm location and product category

This granular approach allows for the most precise inventory management. Automatically assigning all seed used on your "South Farm" to the "South Farm Seed Storage," while simultaneously assigning fertiliser used on the same farm to the "South Farm Fertiliser Storage."

What's happening to Storage Tags?

This change will not impact your current approach to tagging. You can continue to use storage tags as you have been and transition to using Farm Defaults when you're ready. On the Storage Rules page, storage tags have been renamed to "Tag Overrides". If a Tag Override has been set on an activity, it will take precendence over any Farm Defaults.

In addition to allowing you to continue using Shed as you have been, tag overrides can be used in conjunction with Farm Defaults. For example, you can set up sensible defaults, then override any activities which you want to allocate to different storage to the default. Tags can be applied to entire activities or individual inputs within the activity, giving you fine-grain control where needed.

Ready to get started?

To begin using Farm Defaults, click on the Setup link in the main navigation, then click on the Storage Rules link for the Agworld Integration. From here you'll see a list of Agworld Farms. Click on any farm to set defaults for one or more product categories.

We think this is going to be a big improvement and we hope it simplifies inventory management for your team.
