For an increasing number of farm businesses, keeping track of batch numbers received into their on-farm chemical inventory, isn't just best practice, it's a core business requirement.

Exporting Canola under an ISCC export certification? Supplying major supermarkets under a standard such as Fresh Care? A member of Global Gap or participating in the myriad of other certification standards? There's a good chance you're required to keep a record of all batch numbers received into chemical inventory. In an audit, it's likely that you'll be asked to demonstrate compliance with these standards too.

As many of you know, tracking Batch numbers, Date of Manufacture and Product Expiration has been supported in Shed for a long time now. However, batch data can be captured at multiple point in your inventory data, including:

  1. Recorded in a storage's opening inventory.
  2. Receipted into a storage as products are delivered on farm.
  3. Recorded as products are transferred from one storage to another.
  4. Observed during a physical stocktake of inventory.

Up until now, reporting on a consolidated journal batch numbers wasn't easy to do in Shed. This all changes with the release of the new Batch Journal Report.

The Batch Number Journal, available from the Reports page in Shed, will provide you with a consolidated list of batches observed across the entire inventory workflow in Shed.

Whether it's a product recall, crop damage event or an audit, you now have one place to quickly report on chemical inventory batch data in Shed.
